I'm listening to a bunch of music while preparing for a move and a change, so I'll be sharing some of that good stuff with you. My head is spinning and I'm working on some pieces to try to calm my rattled nerves as of now. I hate when I get like this, my head is moving at a 100 and my body's telling me to slow my roll.
Anyway, here's one of the pieces I made a little while ago. This is a plaster mask crafted and painted over by yours truly. It's quite fun and simple to make actually, the plaster itself comes in a roll and you simply cut out small strips, dip in water, spread a tad, and carefully place on your face. I, of course, had some help because this task is a little tedious and you do have to work quite fast since it does dry fairly quickly. So, after completely covering your face with these wet strips, in exception of the eyes and nostrils, the strips should start to dry and come together. You can keep layering strips to make it thicker, which I'd advise because a single layer will definitely break, and then you wait for it to dry a bit before removing, which is the tough part in my opinion. I suffered a severe laugh attack while waiting for it to dry which made the plaster come off my lips and cheeks a bit, I thought this would've harmed the finished product, but luckily it was dry enough to not be affected by my jolting face muscles(slight exaggeration). After thirty minutes or so, it is safe to remove from your face and then you must let it set for about two hours. After it is hard as a shell, you may paint! I originally wanted a diamond pattern all over, but I opted for the stripes because it would be much too time consuming to paint each tiny diamond. However, I'm going make another and definitely try it out. I actually really liked the finished product, it's so neat to have a mask with your resemblance, it makes it very creepy and personal. I love it and I'd totally recommend this fun and easy project to anyone who wants to have a messy fun time! (Makes a fun gift for a girlfriend/boyfriend/mom/dad/granny/grampy too.)
